Google Decreases 1st Page Organic Results

Google has made another hugely impactful change for those of us working diligently to be featured on the first page of an organic search. Sometime last week it seems that they decreased organic first page listings by 5.5% on over 18% of searches. Now instead of 10 links appearing, only 7 are visible on the first page.

You may be asking yourself, “What’s the big deal, why does this matter?”. Most companies put in hours and hours of work to land a spot on that first search results page. They create unique content, sort through useful keywords and initiate PR efforts, all on a daily basis. Now companies are going to have to work even harder to be ranked higher in order to appear on the first page since the available slots just went from 10 to 7 basically overnight.
